“16 days. Revolution on the Granite” – Documentary film about student’s revolution of 1990 – has been took a part in the International Film Festival “Youth”. The film was presented in the framework of the national contest “Ukrainian panorama 2010-11.”
This film is about the student revolution in October of 1990. The revolution has been lasted only 16 days and has become an impulse for the disconnection of Ukraine from the USSR. The central area of the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, was covered with granite slabs. Here and the name – “Revolution on the granite.” The students have chosen such forms of protest – the hunger strike, blocking main streets, and the occupation strike – ensured their victory. These young people have shown that the alternative to Soviet reality is possible.
